Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the Football Scores Tool?
The Football Scores Tool is a plug-in tool for Watson for Mac OS X that
presents football game recaps pulled from football scoreboards on the
web. By presenting
the information in a native Mac OS X interface, you can browse
the box scores, recaps, and other stats faster and more efficiently.
If you've ever tried to
check every box score on ESPN.com or NFL.com, you know how painful it
is (click link, click back, click link, you get the idea).
-
What is Watson and where do I get it?
In the words of its creator, Watson is "A Pioneering
Desktop Interface to the Web." Essentially, Watson simplies the use of certain web sites
by displaying the information and services on these sites by presenting them in pre-rendered,
purposed Aqua interfaces. As a result, the web becomes simpler to use. It's also faster, since
you're no longer waiting for the browser to render the web site. Watson is also extensible and
comes with a number of excellent tools. It also won the
2002 Apple Design Award for Most
Innovative Mac OS X Product. You can find out more about Watson at
http://www.karelia.com/watson. Watson was developed
by the fine folks over at Karelia Software, LLC..

Can you make a [NHL,NBA,etc.] tool?
Of course I can. But I don't have any plans to yet. I actually watch
and follow a number of other sports.
I might be willing to do it if people really ask nicely
or donate a few bucks and let me know that they want those tools. I am
definitely willing to help another developer who wants to learn Cocoa and Watson
to develop a tool for those other sports.
Also, it's really hard to develop these tools when the sport is out of season, because
I've noticed that sites tend to change their page layouts at the start of each season. So,
I might do one as the various seasons start.

What is the license for this tool?
Click on the License link on the left. It's basically a BSD style license, which
means use the code any way you want.

There are two links to the left that should answer your questions. Please use the
link that matches what you want to do (bugs to the bugs link, feature requests to the
feature requests link).
