10/5/2000 - The Quote Monster now has it's own domain. It's moving from it's home of several years now at http://www.sujal.net/quotes to http://www.sujal.net/quotes. Enjoy!

10/3/2000 - Security is improved, though not ideal. I already have a plan to fix at least the login security (right now passwords, though encrypted, still traverse the network on requests (check your cookies). This isn't high security information, so it's not that big a deal, but I still want to improve it some. In addition, the Quote Monster is moving to a new domain soon (http://www.quotemonster.org). It should be online shortly, and DNS will migrate quickly thereafter. :-)

9/20/2000 - Basic Collections functionality (create, add) is now working. Security is still on, though it's a joke. That's the number one priority now... making the login system a little bit more robust. From there, I need to augment the quote collection functionality. In the next month, I believe that the following functionality will be in place and ready to rock:

• Collections functionality that is complete (create, add, modify, delete)
• Private vs. Public Collections and quotes (still have to finalize the rules for this before coding)
• Better site design (graphics, layout, traversal)

I hope that the regular visitors enjoy this as much as I will.

5/2/2000 - I haven't stopped working on this. In fact, my new job has offered to allow me to work on this at work in order to implement the site using our technology as a working demonstration. Expect to see a more scaleable service in place with a fully working collections and personal quote page system in the near future.

9/24/99 - the collection has been seriously augmented by including quotes from Alex Armstrong's PEQ quote library. This library adds roughly 8200 quotes from a number of sources. I believe it also includes the BSD fortune quote database, but I'm not sure.

9/18/99 - by popular demand, logins are no longer required to submit quotes. The login feature is for something I'm working on, i.e. the creation of customized collections of quotes that you can include or link to from your home page. It was never my intention to track submissions, per se, as the system doesn't do that now. I'll post a note whenever I get done implementing any of these new features. -- sujal
